Preserving the lives behind the uniform.
Every life of service deserves to be approached with equal dignity—regardless of rank, recognition, or fame.
Why Veer Smriti exists
Veer Smriti is an independent remembrance project dedicated to preserving the stories of people who have served in India’s Armed Forces. We hope to make room for celebrated names and lesser-known lives alike, including people whose technical, medical, engineering, logistical and other essential work can be overlooked.
We do not create heroes or rank sacrifices. We seek to preserve what can be established, listen respectfully to those who knew the person, and clearly distinguish documented facts from personal recollections. Where records are incomplete or accounts differ, uncertainty should be acknowledged—not hidden.
Our aim is not to meet a story count. It is to treat every story we publish with care, accuracy, consent and respect.
A personal connection, and a shared respect.
The Indian Armed Forces have always held a special place in my heart. Many people I know and many of my relatives have served or are serving in the Armed Forces.
My father once dreamed of joining, but his eyesight prevented him from pursuing that path. I, too, aspired to become a fighter pilot, but medical circumstances led me elsewhere. Yet our respect for those who serve has never faded.
Veer Smriti grew from that enduring connection and a simple belief: every life of service deserves to be remembered with dignity, regardless of rank, recognition, or fame.
Through this initiative, I hope to preserve the stories behind the uniform—with respect, care, and a commitment to truth.
Born from respect. Built on remembrance.
